Christmas is approaching

Went to Olney Xmas Market today, it was very good, much better than a very well known one we went to last year, so having been there today I now realise christmas is fast approaching so when I came home thought I had better make something for the day, HO HO HO

Saturday 11 December 2010

with all the cold weather we have had over the last couple of weeks I thought I woud view photos of my holiday to Thassos, Greece, in September, did not make me feel any warmer just made me feel I would like to go somewhere hot for a couple of weeks maybe after Xmas

Have also been doing some classes over at BSK Bedford doing machine embroidery, love my new embroidery machine now it is behaving itself. Did table mat and napkin and the hand towel and face cloths I have done as a present for my mother Dorothy and a set for her friend Norman, I am pleased with how they have turned out.

No pictures but have have also done a couple of sets of napkins as christmas gifts and have been working hard on a quilt I am doing for a friend pictures of that when it is finished.

Hope all this has brought a smile to your face Diana!!

Art Deco and Machine Embroidery

Having had an e.mail from my tutor saying it was about time I put more on my blog, I WAS her star pupil she said, ( I am also her only pupil) here are some pieces I have been doing. Firstly I do love doing stained glass and I have just done a workshop with Helen Spence doing an Art Deco wallhanging. love it, Helen also designed the wallhanging, starting from the top I have done it depicting the seasons,so it's Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. Thanks Helen for a wonderful workshop.

Thursday 4 November 2010

Had a very enjoyable quilt day with our house group, lovely lunch as usual, thanks Margaret. The photo shows myself, Margaret Williams, Margaret Hill and Helen Spence, photo taken by Kathy Lee, unfortunately Kathy the one I took cut all heads off so next meeting your photo is priority.
Should have said that the mistakes in the text I did yesterday were deliberate to make Ann feel better!!!

Wednesday 3 November 2010

Looking forward to this coming Saturday, coachload of 40 from Hamtune going to Chilford, my favourite quilt show and lovely lovely food. Am going with a list for loads of fabric I need for my next quilt so will come back heavily loaed except for my purse. Photos to follow.

I have at last finished my granddaughter Gaby's heirloom quilt and had it on show at Hamtune

Hamtune Quilters Autumn Fayre last Saturday was a superb day and we raised a lot of money for Motor Neurone Disease, our charity for this year. Members all worked very hard and the quilt raffle was a great success, Ann Harris was so keen she couldn't get her spelling right ( she'll kill me) but we all enjoyed it

back at last

Been so long since I posted on my blog it has just taken me half an hour to remember how to do it, nearl had to send an e.mail off to teacher!!!!! Am at last up and running with my new machine, for a while trying to get it sorted seemed to have taken over my life but all is sorted now. While I am typing this I am trying to remember how to post photos, have no idea how this will turn out but here goes. I was sewing some little purses for Hamtune Autumn Fayre and my Granddaughter Gaby came over and she made on and did very well

Room Tidy

Yesterday I decided to have a sort out and tidy in my workroom, it was one of those things after four hours I wondered why I ever started, it actually took all day but boy do I feel good now and am ready to get going. ( I keep trying to remember what it was I used to have to do then decided to give it up, I remember it was called housework!!!) I am hoping teacher will give me an "A" today.

Excuses

Got a "C" grade from my blog teacher for my work on my blog last week. I have a good excuse, my new sewing/embroidery machine arrived, installed the software that was easy from then on I just sat in front of the computor screen like a stuffed mummy trying to figure out what to do next, not being computor literate it will take me some time to sort out but I shall get there eventually. I did actually finish a couple of things off, the sweetpea cushion, a bag and a table runner

Bags of Bags

t

Did not get much embroidery done this week, have decided to buy a new embroidery/sewing machine combined so am waiting for that but did make bags. Also photos of our sit and sew day at Poppy Patch Quilt Shop in Gt. Doddington, they have moved from Earls Barton and the new premises are fantastic and the workroom has such a great feel about it and they are now planning lots of new workshops so if you haven,t yet visited suggest you do so. The small bag is made from trim of fabric with the makers name etc on it, saw this in a magazine and thought what a clever idea it was.

Family

Have just returned from a wonderful family reunion weekend over in Stowmarket in Suffolk and Diss in Norfolk Whilst we are all busy people we really should try to make time for close and distant family. My sister and I had been talking about it for ages and eventually set a date and a great time was had by all, young and old.
